Breastfeeding Mum Responds To Twitter Critics After Posting Photo From Graduation

When a graduating woman posted a pic of her breastfeeding at the ceremony, she didn’t expect the reaction it’d get…

Karlesha Thurman, 25, who was graduating from California State University Long Beach, shared a photo of her nursing her daughter to a Facebook breastfeeding group.

It then went viral on Twitter after it was shared and, while some comments were supportive, negative ones included ‘I'm all for breast feeding [sic]. But at a graduation come on y'all that was inappropriate’ and others calling her a ‘hoe’ and ‘weird’.

But Karlesha stood her ground, retweeting the positive comments and posting on the Facebook page again.

‘I found out I was pregnant my last year of college, had my daughter one week into my last semester, she was my motivation to keep going, so me receiving my BA was OUR moment, so glad I captured the moment and so glad you shared it with the world so thank you again,’ she wrote.

She also told BuzzFeed she was ‘shocked’ it’d gotten so much attention.

This comes after news last week of a woman getting verbal abuse in a south London café while breastfeeding her baby.

Would you social media breastfeeding photos? Or have you ever had a negative reaction while feeding? Let us know on the comments board below.
