Supermodel Miranda Kerr has spoken out about her life as a mum to Flynn, regaining her famous figure – and how breastfeeding helped her do it.
Miranda defied belief when she strutted down the Balenciaga catwalk baring her rock-hard abs and slim physique, a mere two months after giving birth to baby Flynn, now three, in 2011. (Yeah, that wasn't the case for us either…)
Now, the model, 31, has spoken to Lucky Magazine about how she got back into shape – and her lack of rush to do it.
‘I was focused on having a healthy baby — and I had a 10-pound baby!” she says in the June/July issue of Luckymagazine.
Miranda has previously spoken of her ‘good genes’, but she believes breastfeeding played a big part.
‘I just loved breastfeeding. It was something that came very easily to me and it helped speed up my metabolism,' she says.
‘I nursed for a year and a half, and I pumped when I was at work,’ she added.
Despite her hectic lifestyle travelling the globe, not to mention her various other business partnerships under ‘Brand Miranda’, her and Orlando Bloom’s son clearly comes first.
‘Before him [Flynn], I’d work six days in a row and really enjoy it,' she said. ‘Now my career has grown into something more.'
If a job is just for a few days, Miranda goes solo. ‘I’ve found that routine is very important for children,' she says. 'Even though they’re quite malleable, they do feel safe in their schedule,' she added. If the trip is longer, Flynn comes along.
‘Motherhood is the best,’ she continues. ‘It’s rewarding to see a little being develop and to grow into an individual. Flynn makes me laugh so much. We have the same sense of humour, which no one else understands. I’ll look at something and laugh, and then he’ll laugh, and it’s so contagious.’
