A new study published in the European Journal of Social Psychology found that making use of middle initials throughout life is the easiest way to appear more clever, and in turn increase your overall success.

Wijnand A.P. Van Tilburg of the University of Southampton and Eric R. Igou of the University of Limerick wrote in their research: 'People's middle initials have a particular and powerful effect on how people are perceived by others.
'The display of middle initials increases the perceived social status of these people and positively biases inferences about their intellectual capacity and performance.'
One of their experiments asked 85 students to evaluate the written quality of an article, listing the author in a different way for different readers - David Clark, David F. Clark, David F.P. Clark, or David F.P.R. Clark - and the results showed that David F. Clark was rated more highly than David Clark and David F.P.R. Clark was rated best overall.
