Struggle to find the time to exercise as a busy mum? Try to figure about ways to work out without a babysitter?
Bodybuilder Mia Warrick, 44, has found a great way to solve both dilemmas – by using her children as weights!
The Dagenham-based fitness enthusiast and mother to Evan, seven, and Jasmine, five, began the unusual workout when she became a full-time mum, with little free time to go to the gym.
A competitive bodybuilder since the age of 20, she began lifting her toddlers to keep fit, after the birth of her daughter Jasmine in 2008.
Talking about her unorthodox training method, Mia said, ‘Being a full-time mum to two young children is quite difficult at the best of times.
‘But since I wanted to get back into shape too, I couldn't exactly leave them to go to the gym. I started doing reps around the house – toddlers love being picked up!’
It appears to be working – Mia is now through to the finals of the National Amateur Bodybuilders Association, reportedly her last competition before she retires.
Of course, for those of us worried we'd drop one of our little darlings mid lunge, there are much better options in our guide to keeping fit with your little ones.
