BFFs at the SAG Awards: who knew they were friends?

Forget the gowns and gongs, the most interesting thing about this weekend's SAG Awards was the female friendships

Contrary to rumour, A-list actresses don’t spend their time bitch-fighting for the best roles. It turns out some very big names are total girl’s girls and sworn BFFs.

At Sunday’s SAG awards, Jen Aniston and Julia Roberts were inseparable, holding hands at dinner, Maggie Gyllenhaal cuddled up to Meryl Streep and pregnant Keira Knightley stuck like glue to gorgeous Julianne Moore.

Also spotted partying with their mates? Reese Witherspoon and American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson and the ladies of Downton Abbey celebrating their award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Fortysomethings Aniston and Roberts have never appeared in a film together, but Julia once had a cameo in Friends and is long-term pals with Brad Pitt, her co-star in The Mexican and the Ocean’s Eleven movies.

Hmm, is it time to re-make Thelma and Louise? What buddy movie would YOU like to see these besties star in?
