Move over George, there’s a new ‘prince’ in town.
Freddie Minnis, 11 months, from Essex, has recently achieved what every one year old dreams of… He’s been awarded the honourable title of the world’s first professional Prince George lookalike.
Freddie, who was born only four days before the royal prince, beat hundreds of hopefuls to the title in the competition ran by baby gift retailer My1stYears.com.
Freddie has already modelled the retailer’s ‘Crown Collection’, launched prior to Prince George’s upcoming first birthday, and will be seen in new ranges in the coming months.
Daniel Price, from My1stYears.com, said, ‘As soon as we saw the photos of Freddie we could see the resemblance instantly.
'Like the young prince, he's a natural in front of the camera and was a pleasure to work with. We had hundred of mums and dads contact us with pictures of their sons who resemble the Prince and it was tough to select just one.
'The thing that made Freddie stand out was the closeness in age and the fact he's so similar to George in other ways too.’
Little Freddie’s rise to royalty (well, kind of) began when family friends pointed out his resemblance to Prince George following the royal couple’s visit to Australia.
Mum Carly Minnis confessed she had never noticed the similarities until she saw all the TV coverage of the family’s trip down-under. ‘George was dressed in clothes similar to those Freddie wears and they seem to have the same temperament,’ said Carly.
According to his mum, the similarities between George and Freddie don’t just end in looks. ‘If he isn’t doing what he wants, he has a very cute pouty, sulky face. He’s also obsessed by our family dog Minnie, just like George appears to be with Lupo.’
