‘I Could Have Lots Of People Doing The Cooking – But I Would Be Unhappy,’ Says Kate Winslet

Despite an Oscar winning career and three kids, Kate Winslet reveals she does all the hard work herself like any normal mum

She’s busy preparing for the release of her new film Labor Day and gave birth to third baby Bear last month, but new mum Kate says she refuses to get outside help raising her three kids.

‘The assumption is that if you’re successful you probably think you’re something special. But I’m not special at all,’ said Kate mum to Mia Honey, 13, Joe Alfie 10, and Bear, one month, in an interview with Glamour magazine. ‘I trundle along, we have friends over, I make dinner...’

The 38-year-old actress went on to reveal how she juggles acting with motherhood, ‘It’s weird because the two worlds are so different: from fish fingers for tea to film sets. But that’s the case for any actress who’s a mother,’ said Kate. ‘Sure, I could have lots of people doing the cooking, the driving, all that jazz – but I would be unhappy. I wouldn’t want my children raised that way.'

'My life is not the soap opera people would like it to be'

Dispelling any myths, she added her daily life is not as dramatic as you might think, either, ‘My life is not the soap opera people would like it to be. In fact, it’s not a soap opera at all. It’s just life.’

Aside from discussing babies and work, Kate also revealed her lack of concern about losing her pregnancy weight to get her pre-baby figure back. 'Having just had a baby, I’m not going to be thinking about my a**e,’ she said.
