‘I’m a more relaxed mum third time around’ says Jade Jagger

'I'm a more relaxed mum third time around' says Jade Jagger

A year after becoming a mother for the third time – and a grandmother – jewellery designer Jade reveals that when it comes to parenting, she’s still learning.

When you’re part of the Jagger clan, normal rules don’t apply. Jade and her daughter Assisi, 22, gave birth to babies just one month apart last year, instantly making Jade a mum-of-three and grandmother at 42.

Jade, who tied the knot with DJ Adrian Fillary in 2012, welcomed son Ray just four weeks after Assisi had delivered daughter Ezra Key.

Talking to MailOnline this week, Jade says that family life has never been happier. Having babies at the same time has brought mum and daughter closer together and given Jade the chance to share a little advice.

‘I guess I've been more relaxed this time around as I've done it before and I'm sure that's rubbed off on Assisi,’ she said. ‘I gave her more advice at the start, but she's been reading all the parenting books because it's her first time and she'll point things out to me that she's seen.’

Jade describes Ray, now 11 months, as ‘rambunctious’ and ‘a little person with his own personality running around the place’, but adds that neither she nor Assisi are pushovers when it comes to discipline.

‘We're both quite strict when it comes to routine. We've learned a lot from each other but you also learn a lot from each child as they're all quite different.’

Having a baby in your 40s can, of course, be more challenging than in your 20s, and Jade admits she gave up wheat to avoid becoming ‘massively fat’ while pregnant. Is the designer – who famously owns a home in Ibiza – worried about her beach body? Refreshingly, it doesn’t seem so. ‘It's not a big deal,’ she smiled.
