Could Michael McIntyre be the new parent that we can all relate to? The comedian certainly seems to have parenting spot on – at least in his comic stand-up routine
Michael McIntyre’s fame and fortune is largely due to his family – as a large amount of his comic routines involve sketches of life in the McIntyre household. And it seems he gets what your life is like. Perfectly.
In his sketch ‘People With No Kids Don’t Know’, the comedian, 37, plays out a number of scenarios showing the differences between people with children and those without. Cue lots of ‘Aw I would love to have a family one day’ and ‘You have NO IDEA what you’re talking about’ banter.
Included in his repertoire is a (hilarious) sketch in which his family – wife Kitty and sons Oscar, seven, and Lucas, four – leave the house (a simple open-the-door-and-leave for childless couples and a lengthy drama for his).
And a sleep sketch rings true. There is no more saying ‘good night’ but just wishing each other ‘good luck’ before another sleepless night begins.
‘All through the night they’re screaming and sometimes they’re just wide awake for no reason,’ Michael jokes. Sound familiar?
