The mum-of-two has chosen to speak out about her two-year-old daughter’s accident in hopes that it will inspire other parents to be aware of safety risks
Michelle Heaton, 35, has admitted that her daughter Faith, two, fell into a manhole three stories deep.
Writing in her blog for OK! magazine, the singer says the hole’s safety cover had shifted slightly – enough for her tot to squeeze through.

‘We had been at a friend’s house and I put AJ [her youngest child] in the car first while Faith stayed close to me (she knows never to move from my side) but I felt she was too close to the road so I asked her to step inwards,’ writes Michelle. ‘I turned to check on AJ and as I turned back, after what must’ve only been a second, Faith had gone.’

The star continued her account, writing that she heard Faith crying and realised she had fallen into the hole. After crying out herself, two builders came to help Michelle and managed to get Faith out safely – who was covered head to toe in sewage.
‘We carried her back into my friend's house and called the NHS helpline,’ Michelle writes. ‘It's a miracle she escaped with a only few scratches and smelling worse than AJ's dirty nappies.
‘After a bath, lots of cuddles and chocolate, she was as good as new. She was lucky she landed on her bum. It could've been a lot worse. Let's take this as a warning to never assume a manhole is safe.’
