Natalie Portman Says There Are ‘No Rules’ To Being A Mum

The award-winning actress has revealed just how becoming a mum has changed her

We’re used to seeing Natalie Portman wow us in blockbuster films but aren’t familiar with her personal life, as she’s notoriously private. But the mum-of-one has being uncharacteristically candid recently about motherhood.

The 32 year old Thor actress spoke to the Telegraph about her son Aleph, two, saying ‘I love being a mum. I’m less judgemental than before I had a kid.’

And the actress clearly isn’t going to condemn other mums for their parenting skills, saying ‘The biggest thing about parenting is that it’s a totally different experience for every person.

‘Everything is cool, there are no rules – I mean, apart from not hurting your kid. Some people breastfeed until their babies are five, and some don’t breastfeed at all. There are no rules about what it means to be a feminist, or a good mother. For some, it's going to be right to go back to work, for others it's going to be right to stop working completely,’ she says.

Aleph is Natalie’s first child with her choreographer husband Benjamin Millepied, who she met on the set of Black Swan and married last year. They are currently raising their son in L.A. but are reportedly planning to move to France, where Benjamin is originally from, next year.
