The Olympic athlete has shared the happy news that she’s expecting her first baby
A huge congratulations to Jessica Ennis, who’s confirmed that she’s pregnant. This will be the first baby for the Olympic gold-medal winner and her husband Andy Hill, who Jessica married in May last year.
The heptathlete announced her happy news via a statement, saying that the pregnancy was ‘very unexpected’.
Jessica’s pregnancy will mean that she’ll miss the 2014 Commonwealth Games but sports fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the she promises she’ll return to the sporting world once her baby is born.
‘My plans for 2014 have been completely turned upside down,’ the sportstar wrote. ‘But having had a couple of weeks to think about things from a career point of view I am 100 per cent set on returning to full time athletics once our baby is born and go for a second gold medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016 - that challenge really excites me.
'But in the short term I will make our baby a priority and enjoy the whole experience as much as possible.’
Congratulations to Jessica and Andy – we can’t wait to ‘meet’ baby Ennis-Hill.
