Emily Blunt On Preparing To Be A Mum

The British actress says that being a mum is the ‘coolest thing that’s ever happened to me’

She may have won a Golden Globe, acted alongside Hollywood legends including Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks and appeared in some pretty brilliant films along the way, but British actress Emily Blunt still thinks that being a mum is ‘really the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me’.

Speaking to Vogue magazine, in the newly-released April 2014 edition, when she was eight months pregnant with her now six-week-old daughter Hazel the actress said: ‘I feel good. Although I do wake up feeling like my grandmother. I sleep with a fortress of pillows around me. I’ve got one of those huge C-shaped ones. My husband calls it Gary.’

Blunt also spoke about her pregnancy cravings and how she prepared for motherhood. She allowed herself ‘one coffee a day’ and somewhat bizarrely binged on gluten-free cookies:

‘I know everyone rolls their eyes, but I met a hippie doctor who suggested it, and it’s really helped me in the pregnancy.’

Blunt adopted a ‘non-fuss, non-intense’ approach to maternity business, following the advice that: ‘everyone says don’t go online and read as few books as you possibly can’.

How did you prepare yourself for motherhood? Did you find yourself eating anything unusual such as gluten-free cookies? Let us know in the comments box.
