Olympic Swimmer Rebecca Adlington Announces Pregnancy

Olympic Gold medallist Rebecca Adlington has announced that she’s expecting her first child with husband Harry Needs

The newlyweds, who tied the knot in September this year, announced the happy news in Hello! Magazine – and revealed that their baby is due next summer, on June 4 2015.

The ex I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! contestant, 25, told the magazine, ‘The due date is June 4 so, yes, we must have conceived on the first day of our honeymoon in Venice.'

Husband Harry, who is also a Team GB swimmer, joked that this won’t impact their baby’s name, however.

‘But we’re not the Beckhams - we won’t be calling the baby Venice,' he said.

The pair also revealed their plans for a water birth, after recommendations from friends - an apt choice for a couple who have spent more time than most in the water.

‘I would like the birth to be as natural as possible, but you can’t really plan it, can you?,’ Rebecca added.

The couple admitted their relief that their bub is doing well, after having their first scan – and are clearly thrilled at the idea of becoming parents.

‘Thank you so much for all the lovely messages!!! Really kind. Were so excited! I can't wait to be a mum! #pregnant #excited,’ Rebecca wrote on Twitter.
