England footballer Theo Walcott has become a first-time dad and is ‘over the moon’ with his brand new baby boy.
The 25-year-old professional athlete took to Facebook yesterday evening to announce the happy news, posting this message on the social networking site:
Little Finley is the Arsenal forward’s first child with wife Melanie Slade, who he married last June in a romantic sun-drenched ceremony in Tuscany. The couple were childhood sweethearts, meeting in 2004 at a shopping mall in Southampton, and have been together ever since.
Theo is currently out of action due to a ligament injury, but his enforced time off the pitch should give him a great chance to bond with baby Finley.
He announced that he and Mel were expecting last December, telling his Facebook fans, ‘Me & Mel are happy to confirm we are expecting our first child, which is due early next summer.
‘We are both very excited at such happy news just a few months after getting married. We are really looking forward to becoming parents.’
