You may have loved your baby shower cupcakes and present fest, but do you think your mum (and mother-in-law) deserve some attention, too? A US trend making its way to the UK is seeing grandmothers-to-be being indulged in their own baby showers
Even if your mum’s the most excited gran-to-be in the world, a baby shower dedicated to her may seem a step too far. But it’s all about helping her move into the next stage of her life apparently.
Grandmother and blogger Susan Adcox told Today.com that these parties are just like a typical baby shower in that they celebrate a new phase in a woman's life
‘We're not quite prepared for what a change that’s going to be in our lives,’ she explained. ‘And to have some close friends who you can discuss and celebrate with is really wonderful.’
A grandmother baby shower works in pretty much the same way as one for mums-to-be, with cakes, games and gifts.
‘There's a lot of gear you have to have with a baby and when you're a grandma, sometimes you don't have it,’ said Susan.
Granted, a second car seat and changing mat are handy, but is the baby shower really necessary? Let us know in the comment box below.
