Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

This is a great product. It is so versatile and can be used for all ages. The design is simple and effective. It was easy to put together. It doesn't take up a lot of room and fits nicely under the table. It is quite heavy so not so easily transportable but it does feel like a quality product. It is solid and stable, and both my little ones climbed all over it. It can be adjusted to suit all levels and needs. It cleans really easily so very hygienic. The grey colour fitted perfectly in the kitchen, and is very on trend. This is one of those products which is a classic design and timeless. Built to last, and easy to use. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

A friend came over with her 8 month old and they used the chair. The baby set was so easy to put together it was amazing. So quick and easy to assemble. The cushions got dirty straight away, not the most baby friendly colours but I do like the design. Its versatility means you can use it for years. It tucks away under the table which is great and doesn't stick out into the room. It wipes clean really easily too which is brilliant. My eldest daughter used it to help me do some cooking, so can be used to eat at the table or used as a step to reach work services.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

It is difficult to fault this product. Having to unscrew it to adjust the hight of the seat means it's not instant, but it isn't a problem either.  The cushions got dirty easily, but I just washed them and they were fine again. Maybe a plastic coated cushion would be easier to clean but probably wouldn't look as nice.  The only hindrance is the price.  Especially when you have so many products to spend out on when a new baby arrives. The fact it lasts a long time is great, but it is quite a lot of money if you are spending out on lots of products at the time.

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

This is a lovely product. The design is very stylish and I think would look great in any kitchen. I'm not keen on the grey colour sent for testing but from a search online, I can see there are many colours available in the chair itself and the cushions with the baby inserts making it possible to mix and match to personalise the highchair. It does have quite a big footprint however so that might be a problem for smaller kitchens. The quality is great, feels sturdy and safe, the baby insert keeps baby in nicely without the faff of straps which can be fiddly when getting a little one into a high chair. In terms of hygiene, the cushions do get mucky relatively quickly and don't wipe down as easily as some highchairs I've used but they clean very well in the washing machine. The wood cleans up well if you wipe it down with the food still wet but if it dries, it's more difficult to remove. This is an easy to assemble and adjust highchair. I also like the fact that as the little one grows up, the chair can be adapted to serve a toddler/preschooler. Finally, I like the fact that the child is right at the table with the rest of the family to make sure they feel part of mealtimes - I think this is very important!

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

Getting a wriggly 1 year old in and out of this highchair is nice and easy but the thing I Iike most about this product is the design.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I do think this is an expensive product.  Once you add up the cost of the basic chair with the inserts and cushions it is quite costly.

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would definitely recommend the Tripp Trapp highchair to others.  We've been using it since my little one was six months old and even when he was little his posture has been great and he has been well supported whereas he often slipped from side to side in other highchairs.  I also love how I can bring it right up to the table so he feels like he is really sitting with us at meals.  The design is very attractive - you can choose from a range of lovely colours and I love that we will be able to remove the baby set kit and continue to use his chair as the years go by.  Our daughter is still using hers at age 11!

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

This highchair is very sturdy and has extended gliders on the bottom which make it very difficult to tip over.  It is pretty easy to clean and completely adjustable so you can make it perfect for every little person who uses it.  It's not the fastest highchair to adjust but you only have to change it from time to time.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

If I could change one thing I think it would be that there be fewer nooks and crannies - it is easy to clean for the most part but there are a few joins where food can get stuck if you're not careful.  The price tag is a little high - it can be justified, I think, because you feel like you have got a very quality piece, but the price may be a bit prohibitive to those on a tight budget.  Other than that I think it is a wonderful high-chair - very durable and built to last.  It blends in nicely at the table because it feels like a proper piece of furniture even though it is a piece of baby-kit.

2014 – Shortlisted for 'Best Highchair' Award!

The Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair is a modern design that looks fantastic in a kitchen. It’s solid and very sturdy, and fits up right against the table – enabling little ones to be an active part of family mealtimes. The chair has no recline feature but does adjust according to the height of its user. It’s comfortable and compact – great for families with limited space – and is a dream to clean (seriously!).

It is expensive, and accessories (a harness and cushioning, for example) cost extra, but its ingenuity, longevity, quality and convenience make it a worthwhile spend if you have the cash for the initial outlay. It’s more than a highchair; it’s a piece of furniture!

Review

A design classic that is expensive, but great quality, with longevity and versatility that make it worth the price. Has no tray and can fit from newborn to adult (yes really) if you buy the extra kits.

Stokke’s Tripp Trapp chair is suitable from birth, encouraging interactive family dining from the get-go. It has functional footrest that can be adjusted to suit the height of a child as he/she grows and made from wood, the chair is sturdy, cleans easily and looks stylish. There are, however, many add-ons needed for babies to transition into the chair as tots – over and above the initial cost! It is an investment product but it certainly doesn’t come cheap – does quality ever?

The Tripp Trapp has been gracing family dining tables for decades and for good reason. It converts to a chair for adults and is built to last. The price adds up as you need to buy the baby set (£47) and cushion (£33) to make it suitable for a baby to sit in, but this is still a fantastic choice, which can be used for many years. The design is quite rightly iconic and user friendly, too, its probably one of the easiest highchairs to keep clean. You can adjust the footrest and backrest to fit your child so they are in the most comfortable and supportive position.

You need to be happy to have no tray, though – the concept here is very much that your child sits up at the table with the rest of the family. For very young babies you can now buy a newborn seat to sit on top of your basic Tripp Trapp that puts your baby on the same level as the rest of the family during mealtimes and can be used as a rocker on the floor, too.
