At a glance:

The Mum to Be Nourishing Stretch Mark Oil does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a lot more affordable than other brands, it smells gorgeous and it works well when it comes to preventing stretch marks during pregnancy.

What they say:

"With a luxurious blend of sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin A and E, this easily absorbed oil helps to reduce stretch marks forming. It boosts the elasticity of skin, leaving it soft, supple and instantly hydrated while being hypoallergenic."

Tested by mum Jade Safe for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

The smell of the oil has grown on me and doesn't leave my skin too greasy afterwards. I use it in the morning and it absorbs well into my skin and stays moisturised until I use it again in the evening before bed. I apply it to my tummy and tops of my legs and have found that it has helped stop the itchy skin from where it has stretched.

How did this product make your life easier?

It isn't really a product that has made my life any easier. Perhaps it has made me take a bit of time for myself in the morning and evening to sit down and take care of my skin, when usually I wouldn't bother, as I am busy with a toddler as well as being pregnant. So it has been nice to take some time for myself, even just for a minute!

Would you choose this product to win?

I have used another product similar to this when I was pregnant with my first child. This product seems to be very similar with a different smell. I found that it didn't do much more for me than if I had used a normal moisturising lotion. I cannot really comment as to whether or not it has been useful for preventing or minimising stretch marks as I have been fortunate enough to not have had any in both pregnancies.

What changes would you make to this product?

I found the smell quite strong at first and a bit too much for my liking. I have got used to it over time but I do think that perhaps a more subtle smell would be better for a product that you use on quite a large surface of skin - as it also then rubs onto clothing and makes them small quite strongly of the oil too.

Tested by mum Taylor Scott for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I absolutely would recommend this product to anyone worried about their stretch marks. It smells and feels brilliant, makes my skin feel so soft and I do see a difference in my stretch marks, which is really unexpected as I haven't even been using it for very long. And at such a cheap price, what do you have to lose?

How did this product make your life easier?

It doesn't make my life easier as a mum whatsoever, but it does however make me feel more confident in myself and in my body. After only a short time I feel as though I can see reasonable results and if it keeps continuing at the rate it is going, I'll be ready to start wearing a swimsuit again in no time!

Would you choose this product to win?

I have tried other creams and oils before to help with stretch marks and never seen any noticeable difference, which was a bit of a let-down considering how expensive they all were! Not only is this much cheaper than the competition, but it actually has helped my stretch marks in a very short time. After trying this I won't ever consider using another brand.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only problem I've found whilst using this product is the packaging as it comes in a plastic bottle with no real flow control, so to make the product perfect for me I'd prefer it to have a pump dispenser. Too often I find myself with too much, which then leads to me having to waste some.

Tested by mum Nicola Myers for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product as it has worked excellently so far. I will continue to use the oil after my baby is born and as my bump shrinks and hopefully won't get any of the dreaded stretch marks. It is an excellent price compared to other products on the market and is easy to use and it absorbs quickly and doesn't have any strong smell.

How did this product make your life easier?

I have been using this oil for a few months now and am currently 37 weeks pregnant. I don't have any stretch marks so far so it seems to be doing the job! The oil is easy to apply and absorbs into the skin well and it doesn't leave you feeling greasy, so you don't have to wait ages before getting dressed.

Would you choose this product to win?

I would choose this oil over others on the market because it has worked well for me so far.  It is cheaper than many other stretch mark oils and creams. I have quite sensitive skin and react to some products but have been absolutely fine with this one. I have tried a couple of other brands which irritated my skin and had a strange smell.

What changes would you make to this product?

I don't think I would change anything about this product. If anything, I would maybe make the bottle a bit bigger so that it will last longer. The packaging is simple and the bottle is easy to use. Overall, the product is great and does what it is meant to.

Tested by mum Gemma Wilson for the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this nourishing stretch mark oil to a friend or fellow mum because it seems to do what it says – helping to minimise and prevent stretch marks. At 36 weeks pregnant I have yet to develop any and have been using this oil from eight weeks, as I was previously bought some as a gift before receiving this one to review.

How did this product make your life easier?

It is very quick and easy to use – I find that it absorbs into my skin really quickly and doesn't leave it feeling greasy. I have used it on my legs as well as my bump as it can double up as a massage oil, this has also helped with my restless leg syndrome.

Would you choose this product to win?

For me personally, the oil is comparable to Johnsons Baby Oil as they both leave my skin feeling great and are both easy to apply. Therefore, I wouldn’t choose this one to win, as Johnsons Baby Oil is cheaper and also comes in a bigger container. Although this Mum to Be Nourishing Stretch Mark Oil smells a lot nicer, so I would recommend it as a gift.

What changes would you make to this product?

I have found that when using this stretch mark oil, the bottle can get very oily too, this makes the surroundings oily too such as my bedside table, which isn’t ideal.

Tested by mum Sarah Lofthouse the Mother & Baby awards 2018:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I think this product smells lovely and is much less oily than others. In terms of stretch mark prevention, I have not had any new stretch marks since using it and it makes my skin feel lovely and soft as well. I feel like I've used a nice cream rather than an oil when I have put this product on my skin.

How did this product make your life easier?

It is not really a product to make life easier, but what I would say is that it is much less oily (despite being an oil) than the leading brand Bio Oil. Both products recommend applying twice a day but I would never apply Bio Oil in the morning for fear of staining my clothes, however with this product I am happy to use it in the morning and have had no issues.

Would you choose this product to win?

I haven't tried any other oils, except for Bio Oil, but in my opinion, it definitely beats that. It smells much nicer and not chemically. The product itself is much less oily and therefore I feel more confident to use it before getting dressed rather than just in the evening. It also appears to be keeping the stretch marks away so far.

What changes would you make to this product?

Quite often after I use the product I find that there are little drips of oil on the bottom of the bottle. This creates a bit of mess in the bathroom and it is annoying to have to clean the bottle after every use, so I would recommend a different way of dispensing the product from the bottle to prevent this.

Tested by mum Claire Miles for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I have been using this product for a few weeks and love it. Mostly for the time that I spend with my husband, massaging it on my huge belly and for the fact that I'm taking time for myself and not for a whiny toddler! It smells delicious without being overbearing and although oily as it goes on, it quickly gets absorbed. It seems to be making my stretch marks fade a little but I imagine I would need to use it for longer for a definitive judgement on this. Very happy indeed!

How did this product make your life easier?

I don't know if this product makes my life easier but if the results continue, it will certainly make me feel better about my body in the long run, which can only be a good thing, right?!

Would you choose this product to win?

The price of this product would win for me. My mum bought me a Clarins stretch mark oil for my last pregnancy and I haven't noticed much difference to be honest, other than I know the Clarins oil was a ridiculous price. Money is a bit tighter for us with this being my second pregnancy and now I work part time, it is really good to know that there are comparable products out there with a much smaller price tag. Well done, NSPA!

What changes would you make to this product?

I don't think it could really. I like the packaging and the fact that the bottle is plastic rather than glass. I haven't checked whether it can be recycled, but I would assume and hope it can be.

Tested by mum Simone Wilby for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this Stretch Mark Oil to other mums and friends. It's nice not too overpowering smell and ease of use putting it on really makes it a great product. It doesn't drip everywhere like some oils can either which is what normally puts me off stretch marks oils.

How did this product make your life easier?

I think this makes it easier as it's non messy and easy to use. You can just quickly take the lid off squirt some onto your hand and rub on to the areas that need it. I found that it doesn't get sticky or horrible when you put your clothes on either which is another down point of oils.

Would you choose this product to win?

This product is very much different from any other oil that does this job. I've found in the past other oils are drippy and messy and some smell so strong or some don't smell at all. But this oil is nice smelling but not too strong and doesn't leave a message or sticky feeling.

What changes would you make to this product?

There are just a couple of things I would change and that's the lid being twist I would prefer a snap lid just for ease of opening and shutting when got oil on hand would be easier. The other thing was the annoyance of having to wash hands after using it as meant it took me a little longer getting ready as had to go to bathroom to wash hands after using it.

Tested by mum Aretha Pandya for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this product to other mothers. I really enjoyed using this product. Firstly its a simple, effective, warm coloured bottle. It has a light fragrant smell that is not over-powering, but is enjoyable to use. I have been using it for a few weeks, although not with an immediate effect, I have noticed that my stretch marks are starting to fade. More importantly I've also noticed that it has prevented any further stretch marks appearing.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product is easy to use, the smell is so soothing and relaxing, the product is not greasy and very pleasant to apply. The oil absorbs smoothly into my skin, without having to massage it aggressively on my skin, As a result, i can apply it very quickly and effectively in the morning and before i go to bed, ensuring it does not become a lengthy, messy process It leaves my skin feeling smooth, silky - i have even started using it on other areas of need, such as scars on my legs

Would you choose this product to win?

It provides care to an area on my body that is sensitive and important after the birth of my child. It has provided me with confidence and the belief my stretch marks will fade, giving me confidence. I think the fragrance of this product is really relaxing and fresh, I enjoy applying it every day. It also provides great value for money against other products in this market.

What changes would you make to this product?

I wouldn't change anything about NSPA Nourishing Stretch Mark Oil .

Tested by mum Kim Mcgowan for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Yes!! This is a great product that is pleasant to use and reasonably priced. It has a lovely fresh scent, is quickly absorbed and not greasy. It's very moisturising and nourishing and I found it to be effective in improving skin elasticity and preventing stretch marks. Pretty cute packaging too!

How did this product make your life easier?

This product was easier to use than rival products because it was less oily and sank into my skin more easily so I didn't have to wait ages before getting dressed. I liked the smell and found it to be very effective in preventing stretch marks and keeping my skin smooth. Quite miraculous given the size of my bump!

Would you choose this product to win?

I've used several bump oils, lotions and butters and this one was up there with the best! It is great value for money, looks good and is very pleasant to use. It's a very worthy winner. It's less greasy and more quickly absorbed than other similar products and smells much nicer than the market leader.

What changes would you make to this product?

I would change the packaging - it's quite messy to pour out and difficult to control the amount. A pump dispenser would be better and would mean less product was wasted. I found myself wasting lots of product at times and the outside of the bottle became oily leaving a ring when I stood it on my wooden dresser.

Tested by mum Lisa Nash for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this to another mum for definite - the reasons being that it's a lovely product - absorbs really well, has a lovely texture and smell and I think it's works on preventing stretch marks and helping which ones I have. It's good for during pregnancy and post birth and I would definitely recommend.

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

This oil was fantastic it smelt nice and the design was really pretty! It was easy to get the oil out if the bottle without a lot of mess so made it hygienic too. It felt smooth on the skin and made the skin area softer!  The bottle size doesn't take up too much room so easy to put in toilette's bag

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

This oil smells lovely and has really nice texture. It isn't too greasy, unlike similar products on the market, and leaves you feeling nice and soft. The oil seemed to work in term of helping keep stretch marks at bay - I haven't had any and it could be this that helped!

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

It's quick and easy to apply. You only need a very small amount each time, so a bottle would last quite a long time. You don't need to wait a long time for the oil to absorb; you can quickly apply and then get dressed.

Nothing!
