Milton’s Mini Portable Soother Steriliser is practical and easy to use. It’s small enough to carry around in a handbag and can also be attached to a pram or the outside of changing bag for ‘at the minute’ sterilising – although the process does take 15 minutes, which might seem like ‘forever’ to a deprived baby. The steriliser does, however, solve the faff of parents having to haul around an army of dummies on days out – a couple will suffice; one spare to keep baby happy whilst the dirtied dummy is being cleaned.

The steriliser solution must be prepared before going out (the product comes with ten sterilising tablets and extras can be bought for a reasonable price), which is one more thing on a parent’s ‘to do’ list and the sterilising solution smells quite strange (a bit like bleach) but the product is innovative, convenient  and good value for money – certainly worth a try!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

This is a great little product for when you are on the go & you have a baby that loves to soothe with a dummy. I would specifically recommend this for when travelling or on holiday. Very easy to use & is cold water sterilised, so can be used anywhere! Nice and hygienic for our little ones, especially as they get older & like to throw them out of the pushchair.

How did this product make your life easier?

This steriliser gives you peace of mind that the dummy is always germ free, especially if you are out and about & not sure how clean places are. I think it takes away all the worry of hygiene as dummies are a magnet for germs. Handy as sponge & water are sterile for 24 hours so you can reuse and sterilise more than once if you need to. You also don't need to carry more than one dummy around!

Would you choose this product to win?

Great product & yes I would definitely recommend for days out, holidays or long car journeys. I haven't seen any other portable dummy sterilisers on the market.

What changes would you make to this product?

Great product, if I'm being fussy I didn't like the colours. Great instructions & really easy to use. The mini steriliser tablets that you use need to be packaged better as currently you pull it apart to get one tablet out & there is no tear off tabs!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would recommend this product as it is ideal to have if your baby has soothers/dummies for when your out and about. The amount of times my little one spits out his dummy and it ends up on the dirty floor or someone touches his dummy and it needs to be cleaned after but I can't clean it and I then have a upset baby because he needs his dummy, but with this little portable steriliser I can just pop the dummy into the steriliser and straight away it's ready for baby again all clean and sterile.

How did this product make your life easier?

This product made my life so so much easier as a mum because I didn't have to carry more than one dummy with me in case the other dummy got dirty. Which normally results in me then losing one dummy! With this mini steriliser it fits perfectly into my changing bag or my pushchair with its easy clip and then it's ready to hand if I need it. It's easy to prepare and is the most ideal travel product for travelling around with a baby who needs a dummy. I loved it!!

Would you choose this product to win?

This is an amazing product to have with you when out and about. It's so great having a mini steriliser to hand.

What changes would you make to this product?

The only thing I would change maybe about the steriliser would maybe make the clip a little more secure because it sometimes came lose when it was on my changing bag. But apart from that I loved it!!

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I'd recommend this product because it is a very useful product for someone like me who has a baby who likes to see how far they can spit out their dummy. The design is very good and easy to put together and wash to make sure it's completely hygienic. It comes with a travel strap which makes it easy to just put on to your pushchair or changing bag.

How did this product make your life easier?

This makes my life easier as a mum because I no longer have to look for down boiling water to sterilise, or buy sterilising wipes when my baby spits out his dummy. It's quick to put together and you can't forget it because of the travel strap it comes with to attach it to you pushchair or changing bag.

Would you choose this product to win?

I like the Milton Mini Portable Soother Steriliser, because it not only stores dummies and pacifiers but also sterilises them while doing so. This sets it apart from any similar products because it is dual use and still very inexpensive. The design is also very simple which makes it easy to use, and the bright colours makes it a fun accessory.

What changes would you make to this product?

The one thing I would improve about this product is the way the lid screws on. The lid doesn't fit flush against the bottom of the holder which makes you think you haven't put the lid on properly, and can sometimes cause some of the sterilising fluid to leak out if the holder is upturned or dropped.

Tested by mum Fiona Brown for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Absolutely. Really handy, especially now that my baby is able to take the dummy in and out of her mouth as sometimes she drops it on the floor, so without this some days I would need 10 dummies! It's easy to use and doesn't take up much room in her nappy bag. I feel confident that it is hygienic to use and would definitely recommend.

How did this product make your life easier?

It means that I don't have to worry about not having a dummy for my baby if her dummy gets dirty. I've always had a supply of dummies, but it is crazy the amount of dummies that get lost, so having this portable steriliser is great, especially when you are down to your last dummy for the day. It's a great invention.

Would you choose this product to win?

The only other portable dummy steriliser idea that I've come across to date is the wipes and this does not make me confident that it would do the job properly as you are just wiping them. With this product you feel confident that you are sterilising the product properly.

What changes would you make to this product?

There is nothing I would suggest to improve about this product, the only thing I would say is that sterilising tablets aren't readily available, I tried a couple of different shops before I could find them.

Tested by mum Rachael Adams for the M&B Awards 2017:

Would you recommend this to other mums?

I would definitely recommend this product to a friend or fellow mum. I have already recommended and they've gone on to buy as I saw this as a great product. It's really easy to use and I can either pop it in my handbag or hang from pram handlebars. My baby drops his dummy all the time so we've made great use of this!

How did this product make your life easier?

This product makes my life easier as its so portable, it means I don't have to take more than 2 dummies out with me and my baby's dummy is always easy to find as it can be clipped in the portable sterilizer to pram handle and I'm not having to route around in my bag. Also when we were out in a group and another baby dropped their dummy I could help out and the used the sterilizer too.

Would you choose this product to win?

I haven't seen anything else like it on the market. We do have a sterilizer box to keep dummies in that can be sterilized in the microwave but this becomes very hot to touch when it's been in the microwave. I think the best factors are its portability and ease of use.

What changes would you make to this product?

I don't think I would change anything about this product, I love the colour, design and the ease of use. It's been a real help day to day and will be a godsend on holiday too. The only thing I would say is that I haven't seen the mini sterilizer tablets available to buy separately in the shops - I'll keep on looking :)

Tested by mum Rachel Robinson for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would recommend this to a friend for being good/handy for when out and about. Easily attaches to buggy or changing bag (with a Velcro strap). Easy and straight forward to use.Very cleaver / good idea. The steriliser is small and easy to transport about.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

I have found its great for when the dummy ends up on the floor/dirty or if it has been mistakenly picked up by my toddler and used - belongs to baby (seems to happen all the time.) only takes around 15 mins to sterilise which isn't too long. Gives you peace of mind as a mum as when I have dropped the dummy before I've just popped it under boiling water and hoped for the best.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

I would say make it slightly bigger to store 2 dummys! or have a one available for twin babies. Also I noticed that trying to find mini sterilising tablets to use with it was hard as the local supermarket did not stock them.

Tested by mum Natalie Leaney for the M&B Awards 2016:

Why would you recommend this product to a friend/fellow mum?

I would recommend this product because I feel it is convenient and practical for mums. I have two dummies however if one gets dropped on the floor while I am out it is quick and easy to pop it into the Milton steriliser and within 15 minutes it is ready for my little boy again. The instructions are easy to follow and take two minutes to put it all together and have it ready to use, it also fits well onto any buggy and does not get in the way. It is very hygienic and I fell comfortable using it for my babies dummies.

How does this product make your life easier as a mum?

I wouldn’t say it lets me do anything quicker or better but it is very convenient! It makes it easy to sterilise on the go. It is better in the sense that I do not have to worry about sterilising on the go and if my little one does drop his dummy he won't have to wait until we get home to have it back.

If you could change one thing about this product what would it be?

The one thing that would make this product better (it was hard to find something) is if it lasted a little bit longer, as the sterilising only lasts 24 hours.  I really couldn’t fault this product it did everything it said on the tin and has really helped with mine and my little boys everyday life.

Innovation Award 2014

Milton Mini Portable Soother Steriliser is easy to use and works to quick effect with maximum efficiency. Simply place the soother into a watertight sphere containing a solution of water and Milton Mini Steriliser Tablets for 15 minutes and all nasties will be dead and gone.

The steriliser is brilliant for ‘out and about use’; it’s small, fitting easily into a handbag or travel bag, and includes a built-in strap that allows you to attach the device to a pushchair. It saves the hassle of hauling around a load of spare soothers and offers parents that ever elusive peace of mind.

It’s innovative, convenient and fairly-priced, and the steriliser tablets are not expensive either.

Shortlisted for Best Travel Product Under £25 Award 2014

Milton’s Mini Portable Soother Steriliser is small, portable and quick and easy to use. It can be clipped to your pushchair (with an included strap) for easy access and also fits neatly into a changing bag. It’s leak-proof and keeps soothers sterile for 24 hours, which is a good amount of time.

The steriliser comes in a range of colours, with ten steriliser tablets included with the initial purchase. It takes 15 minutes for sterilisation to take place and the product is a universal fit, accommodating soothers of all shapes and sizes.

The product is not for everyone (some mums are happy to run their soother under a tap) but for other mums, Milton's steriliser offers peace of mind, which is priceless.
