30 free hours of childcare might be delayed by government

30 free hours of childcare might be delayed by government

In 2016, parents of three and four-year-olds were due to receive 30 hours of free childcare from the government.

However, last week the government announced that the was being investigated. The House of Lords has ruled that a full funding analysis must go ahead to ensure that 30 hours free childcare is able to launch.

The Conservative party claims that this may cause a delay in the launch date of the scheme, which was originally planned for 2016.

15 hours free childcare is still available for all 3 and 4 year olds in England, with additional access for some 2 year olds under certain circumstances. If parents use more than the 15 hours, they can use Childcare Vouchers during the new policy’s investigation.

Childcare Vouchers allow each parent to save up to £933 per year on their childcare costs. To get the maximum savings using Childcare Vouchers, parents are required to spend £2,916 each year on childcare. Both parents can access the scheme.

Singer and mum of two Kelle Bryan has been named Ambassador for the Family and Childcare Trust, and is calling on parents to sign a petition asking the government to invest £535 million in improving the inflexible and expensive Childcare system.
