Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh Fears She Has ‘Left It Too Late’ To Have A Big Family

Pregnant Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh believes her desire to ‘have it all’ has meant she has to give up her dream of having a big family.

The star, who last month revealed she was pregnant with her first child to partner Justin Scott, spoke at last night’s Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year event to say she wants to be realistic about her future family plans.

‘I would like a big family but I am realistic and I’m aware at 32 I have left it a little late. So I’m realistic about how many I can have, but I would like to have more than one,’ she said.

Kimberley went on to point out that many women in their thirties do struggle with knowing when is the right time to start a family, and can be torn between their career and their chances of motherhood – as she was when she was younger.

‘I’m completely fine about being selfless for the first time ever and I can now dedicate my life to a baby’

‘I think women today do struggle with the having it all element. For me there was nothing stopping me but I wanted to have it all and take the opportunities that I had with my career and create a really secure family unit, a home.

‘We want to be indulgent in all these massive opportunities which come your way and soak it all up, and I think the years fly by and then you are suddenly in your thirties.’

However, the singer said she has no regrets about following her heart and said she is now in a position where she has tried everything she could have ever wanted to do, from singing to presenting, modelling to musical theatre – and her children will benefit from all that.

‘I’ve travelled. I’m in a good mental state, I’m completely fine about being selfless for the first time ever and I can now dedicate my life to a baby,’ she added.

What do you make of Kimberley’s comments? Have you ever had to compromise on your dreams in order to become a mum or invest in your career?
