4. Nappies

Yep, your baby will start doing his business immediately – so you’ll need to be ready. 6. Clothing

Your baby will need some clothes to keep him warm and cosy. For the first few weeks, you can probably manage with just a few different outfits and babygrows – but the more you have the less frequently you’ll need to do washing. 7. Changing station

An area where you’ll change your baby’s nappies is crucial. Here, you’ll need a changing mat, clean nappies, a place for dirty nappies and any wipes or creams you may need. Changing tables differ in price and style, so plan, which you think, suits your home and needs.

8. Feeding chair

Whether you’re breast or bottle feeding, you’ll need somewhere comfortable to sit with your baby each time he’s hungry. If you already have the perfect chair in your house, it’s a good idea to move it into the room that your baby will be sleeping in to make the night feeds easier.

If you’re planning on breastfeeding, you’ll still need a few essentials from day one. Add a breast pump, breast pads and nipple soothing cream to your list to make the experience easier. Bottle-fed babies will also need a few necessities including bottles and sterilising equipment.

10. Car seat

You can’t get your baby safely home from hospital without the use of a car seat. Before your due date arrives, make sure both you and your birth partner know how to fix it and strap your baby in – some can take a bit of getting used to.
