Dad turns baby boy into real Elf on the Shelf

Dad turns baby boy into real Elf on the Shelf

One dad has taken to Instagram and turned his young son into a real-life Elf on the Shelf.

While you and I have been posing a little stuffed toy elf into weird and wonderful poses each night, inspired by the American book Elf on the Shelf, dad Alan Lawrence has been posing his baby boy, Rockwell, into even weirder and more wonderful situations.

Rockwell is 4 months old and is the youngest of Alan’s 6 children.

Alan is already a popular dad on social media thanks to his blog That Dad Blog, which focuses on the many antics of his other son, Wil, who has Down's Syndrome, normally photographed flying mid-air (thanks to a little Daddy trickery).

The blog's motto is: “A dad’s blog about life with his six kids - one of which who is blessed with down syndrome and the ability of flight.”

His everyday Instagram posts show Wil exploring the world, but at Christmas, Alan has turned attention on to younger baby son Rockwell.

Alan told M&B: “We have never had an ‘Elf on the Shelf’ in our home but the idea has always intrigued me. Parents letting elves in their homes to watch their kids and cause mischief.

“We have always called Rock our little elf because he just has a cute little elf look so around the first of December when people started posting pictures of their elf on the shelf the idea came to me.

“My family and I were laughing so hard when we first put Rockwell in his elf suit - we knew we were on to something.  I think my wife and I are having more fun than the kids at this point.”

On December 1, Alan wrote on his blog:

“Day 1: We woke up this morning to find and elf in our family room. Our neighbors seem to think he is part of the “Elf On The Shelf” program but we are still not sure. He doesn’t talk much, just sits around watching us and eats all of our food.

“I’m just glad he’s wearing a diaper and I pray that he know how to change them.”

Alan poses the photos with Rockwell, and then edits them to put the baby into exciting situations.

There are new real-life Elf on the Shelf photos every day up until Christmas. Here are some of our favourites:
