Best Apps For Travelling With Toddlers

Is a long journey on the agenda for the holidays? Keep tech-savvy tots entertained with these interactive apps

The ‘getting there’ part of going on holiday is stressful at the best of times, throw the festive rush and a hyperactive toddler into the mix, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster on your hands. >

But don’t fret, this M&B approved list of toddler friendly apps should keep your little ones busy long enough for your sat nav to get you back en route.

Frobbles, Free, App Store

This fruity app is filled is with fun characters and packed with interactive features, animated stories and even celebrity story narration –  including Denise Van Outen, Johnny Vaughan, Edith Bowman and Reggie Yates – so should keep your little raspberry amused for a while.  We particularly love the colouring book feature, allowing him to recreate his favourite Frooble scenes.

Alph And Betty’s Topsy Turvy World, £1.99, App Store

More for children approaching three years and above, this is the first in a series of apps that function like a motion adventure book. Beautifully animated, this storytelling app really allows your little one to get involved, and is also great for helping the development of reading and literacy.

Video Star, Free, App Store

For SOS situations (flight delays ah!) with agitated toddlers, this make-your-own-music-video app is a life-saver. All your mini-Mariah has to do is record a short video of herself dancing, singing, or just pulling funny faces and it will transform it into her own music video. She will love watching herself back again and again – the rest of the department lounge maybe not so much!

Dream Team Adventure, 69p, App Store

Any Ewan the Dream Sheep fan will love playing the Dream Team Adventure game, which follows Ewan through different stages of his life, starting at the farm.   Cute animated animals are sure to hold your little one’s attention on those long car rides. And before nodding off himself on a long journey, he can help Ewan jump into the cot at bedtime.

Tilly And Friends App, £1.99, App Store

With all your tots favourite characters from Tilly & Friends, this educational and creative app is packed full of memory and action based activities. With a wide range of 32 games, they are sure to be kept distracted for long enough for you to pack their suitcase without their very elaborate suggestions.
