How To Spend Easter Away With Kids

We asked the travel experts at Smith & Family for their top tips on a successful Easter escape

Easter holidays are just around the corner. Want farms, fields and egg hunts? Plan ahead with top tips from Laetitia Berthoux, senior consultant at Smithandfamily.co.uk.

Avoid peak rates

Some hotels keep prices consistent throughout the year. Weeke Barton in Devon has fixed rates for half term and Easter stays in a laid-back converted long barn; the kids will love the sloping garden, home to chickens and pigs.

Plan ahead

You might be surprised at how helpful staff can be in assisting the Easter bunny. The Beckford Arms in Wiltshire is the perfect pub with rooms, with amiable staff who will have children foraging in the hedgerows while you settle down by the open fire.

Fun on the farm

Many family farms put on special activities for the Easter weekend, such as Longdown Activity Farm’s pony rides and tractor trips in Hampshire. Stay at nearby Lime Wood hotel, an informal but luxurious home-away-from-home in the New Forest.

Kids stay free

Look for hotels where kids stay free. There’s plenty to keep them entertained at The Elms - take long Easter Sunday walks through the Malvern hills (hide chocolate along to way) or explore the sprawling grounds’ fairy trail and adventure playground.

Perfect boltholes

Choose wisely so you have all you need close to hand, as larger country hotels often host their own egg hunts and Easter activities. Set in leafy Buckinghamshire, Stoke Park has a crèche, an outdoor playground and plenty to do on site to ensure you can check in and chill out.

Smith & Family is a unique collection of child-friendly hotels that are as great for children as they are for grown ups.  Book through Smith & Family for the best available rates, money back on every booking, a Smith extra on arrival and 24/7 support from the in-house travel team.
