Our very own deputy editor Lara Palamoudian hosted Tesco Loves Baby’s first video chat with parenting experts, discussing everything from allergies and dental care to feeding problems and specialist diets, as part of the Baby Food Festival.
Joining Lara were family GP Dr Sarah Temple, child development expert Dr Rebecca Chicot from The Essential Parent Company and nutritionist Katie Fordham, from Danone Nutricia Early Life Nutrition, who answered questions sent in by mums over social media.
Tune into the videos below to check out he answers to your questions, and all of the expert’s best advice.
1. Allergies, dental care and choking
In this video, family GP Dr Sarah Temple tackles topics including pin-prick testing for allergies, foods to avoid with your baby and whether fluoride is safe for little ones. Plus, Dr Rebecca Chicot explains the difference between gagging and choking.
2. Feeding problems and weaning tips
Need some advice on weaning? Dr Rebecca Chicot discusses baby-led weaning versus the traditional method and gives her tips for fussy eaters and introducing texture. Nutritionist Katie Fordham also advises on teaching little ones to love a variety of flavours.
3. Nutrition, portion sizes and specialist diets
Nutritionist Katie Fordham sheds light on the five-a-day debate and how to know when your baby’s full, plus she advises on iron intake and whether spicy food is OK. Dr Sarah Temple also discusses how to approach feeding little ones a veggie or vegan diet.
Our panel of no-nonsense mums put popular baby products through (very!) vigorous testing, meaning you can spend money on the things that really work and have extra time to watch EastEnders with a cuppa tea!
