Has your household been a Frozen frenzy? From knowing every lyric to Let it Go, to that now-iconic Elsa costume, it’s safe to say this Disney film has been a big hit with children all across the nation.
However, judging by new box office statistics, it’s not just children who are racing to the cinemas to see this animated fairytale.
The film has become the fifth highest-grossing film in box office history, taking £723m worldwide; overtaking Iron Man 3.
It now stands just behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 at £795m.
The biggest fans seem to be the Japanese, after the soon-to-be-a-classic film topped the box office for 11 consecutive weekends. It is now the third most successful Western film in the country, behind Cameron’s Titanic and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (known as Philosopher’s Stone in the UK).
Avatar still remains at the top with takings of £1.65bn, followed by Titanic (£1.3bn) and Marvel’s The Avengers (£900m).
