To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the beloved children's toy brand, a giant picnic was held for thousands of fans
More than 1,000 fans of Sylvanian Families gathered on Sunday to celebrate the toy brand’s 30th anniversary at a giant birthday picnic in the grounds of Hatchlands Park, National Trust, near Guildford in Surrey.
People of all ages, from those who grew up with the toy in the late 80s, to today’s generation of fans, came to enjoy the event. Some guests flew in from as far afield as Australia and Hong Kong. Jacc Batch attended the event, who has one of the biggest collections in the world, worth over £50,000.
The Sylvanian characters delighted the crowd with live performances of singing and dancing throughout the day. There was also a host of fun activities for little ones, including face painting, a giant game of pass the parcel, musical chairs, colouring and other fun party games.
In the afternoon, everyone stood on the lawn in front of the Hatchlands Georgian mansion, and formed a giant #SylvanianSelfie, before heading home with their goodie bag.
Many guests enjoyed the Sylvanian Families Nature Trail for the first time; the trail opened in the woodland within the grounds of the park in May, and is a permanent visitor attraction at Hatchlands Park.
A similar event for Sylvanian Families’ fans in the north is being held at Wallington National Trust in Northumberland on Saturday 1 August 2015, perfect for families and kids of all ages. Bring your youngsters along!
