National Children's Day

Get involved with the science and magic of play for this year’s National Children’s Day

This year’s National Children’s Day UK is all about the ‘Science and Magic of Play’, and everyone is invited to get involved.

Lots of things have conspired to reduce the amount of play in children’s lives (such as a risk-averse society and the downward pressures of the school system). But play is really important, not only for children’s health and wellbeing, but also for the happiness and wellbeing of adults, too.

An initiative of the Save Childhood Movement, the day is intended to raise awareness about the issue and bring together all the people who want to see play reinstated as essential to human creativity and innovation.

It is also championing the work of all the other organisations working in the field. Together they highlight the fact that playful thinking lies at the core of all the arts and sciences, and that play is also increasingly recognised as vital for a 21st-century business world.
