The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced the full name of their new baby daughter, to be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge

After waiting to see the Queen to tell her the name, Prince William and Kate have confirmed their new baby daughter’s name as Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

The name was confirmed on Twitter by Kensington Palace.

Charlotte was one of the odds-on favourites to be the Princess’s name, the feminine version of her grandfather’s name, Prince Charles.

Elizabeth refers to both Charlotte’s great-grandmother, the Queen, and great-great-grandmother, the Queen Mother.

Middle name Diana is a touching tribute to William’s late mother.
