Now the good news is confirmed, bookies are already placing odds on the name Benedict Cumberbatch will give his new baby

Following fevered speculation, Benedict Cumberbatch and his theatre director fiancée Sophie Hunter have confirmed they are expecting a baby.

The Sherlock and Imitation Game actor’s spokesperson ended the rumours with a to-the-point statement: ‘I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon.’

The news comes two months after Benedict, 38, and Sophie, 36, announced their engagement. Though the couple is expected to marry in the spring, Benedict told Popsugar this week that he is busy filming the new series of Sherlock and that his ‘main focus is going to be on that.'

In the meantime, bookies have set odds on a possible name for the new arrival. Katherine, Charles and Henry are frontrunners with joint 10/1 odds, but Sherlock is in the running at 50/1 and Holmes at 40/1.
