Well, this is a new way to guess the baby’s name!

The Duchess of Cambridge has let slip that the new Royal baby is due mid to late-April, meaning speculation about the sex and name of the new arrival is reaching new heights.

Current odds suggest Elizabeth is the favourite name for a girl, or James for a boy.

But betting brand Ladbrokes has come up with a new way to guess the Royal moniker: the ‘Barkingham Palace Gold Cup' Corgi race. Yes, really.

Ten Corgis were each given favourite names for the new baby. The winning dog had the girl’s name Alexandra, followed by Camilla and Victoria - so it seems the Corgis in this race favour a girl.

Here are the current favourite names according to Ladbrokes:

Boys names:

  1. James

  2. Arthur

  3. Henry

  4. Charles

  5. Thomas

Girls names:

  1. Elizabeth

  2. Charlotte

  3. Alexandra

  4. Victoria

  5. Diana
