Sorry, Kate and Wills – it seems that parents are no longer naming their baby after Prince George. It’s now all about taking inspiration from TV shows.

In a list of the top 100 baby names for 2013, the name George no longer scored a place in the top 10. Other previously popular royal names such as Charles, Kate and William also fell down the list.

Names inspired by Breaking Bad and Homeland characters were shown to be favourites.

Skyler and Jesse by 13 per cent, both the names of lead characters in US crime drama Breaking Bad, have increased in popularity by 70 and 13 per cent respectively. The name Brody was up by 40 per cent, Carrie by 200 per cent and Dana by 66 per cent – showing  that there are a lot of Homeland fans out there.

But the overall top spots were taken by Olivia, Emily and Sophia for girls and Oliver, Jack and Charlie for the boys.
