From the sore, cracked nipples to the unbreakable bonds and feelings of pride, The Boob Life is a new campaign by Tommee Tippee dedicated to supporting mums through the highs and lows of feeding.
It’s a much-needed chance to open the floor, to share stories and spark a conversation around the taboos of breastfeeding – reminding us not every journey is the same, but every woman has the right to make the choices that are best for her.
Mums spend nine months preparing to give birth, but birth is just one small moment in this miraculous journey; there’s also the boob life to think about. Everyone seems to be an expert on feeding, yet mums are still expected to navigate it themselves. Advice can be helpful, but it can also be overwhelming and make it seem like breastfeeding should go a certain way.
New global research confirmed what we knew about feeding. Mums face a multitude of emotions and responsibilities that come with welcoming a baby into the world and behind the scenes they’re coping with the total transformation of their own breasts, pressure to use them in a way that meets society’s expectations and a lack of representation. It’s no wonder two thirds of mums found breastfeeding harder than expected and a tremendous 93% felt their mental, physical and emotional struggles had gone unacknowledged. Isn’t it time we put a stop to that?
Mums have been in the dark about feeding for too long making them vulnerable to external pressures and preconceived expectations. That’s why Tommee Tippee has launched The Boob Life to affirm breastfeeding isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ and give mums the confidence to do what’s right for them.
Tommee Tippee knows that every feeding experience is personal and unique. Through its bold and beautiful campaign, the trusted and loved parenting brand is normalising the emotional reality of feeding, breaking down barriers, and giving mums the information and inspiration to embark on their individual feeding journey more positively.
It’s about time we reset the standard, acknowledging the impact of breastfeeding on mums’ sense of self, confidence and body image. So that’s why Tommee Tippee is promoting freedom of choice and empowering mums to feel great about their boobs. Breast, bottle or pump, whatever path mum chooses, Tommee Tippee is here for you.
How are we shouting about The Boob Life and making it an accessible resource for mums?
Launching on March 2 2021, Spill the Milk is a six-part digital content series hosted on Tommee Tippee’s Instagram channel. It will become home to open, honest conversations about feeding. Each episode features real women sharing their experiences of motherhood and spilling the milk on the gritty topics no one talks or warns you about – from difficulties latching and milky stains on t-shirts to feeling judged.
Based on real insights unearthed in the campaign research, the series will demystify breastfeeding and open up conversations around the spectrum of feeding options. Spill the Milk will leave no stone unturned as real mums tackle real, unspoken issues. Whether that’s an account of lesser-known complications or tips for coping with dramatic bodily changes, it’s all about sharing real life experiences – the positive and the negative.
