Makes 10 biscuits
180g (6oz) rolled (old-fashioned) porridge oats
2 tbsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
1 tsp pure vanilla extract (optional)
Slightly soft in texture, these teething biscuits crumble easily, and are mild in flavour. They're perfect for babies from 6 months of age to help ease their sore gums.

Preheat the oven to 170°C fan (190°C/375°F/Gas 5).
Place the oats in a food processor and blend to the consistency of fine breadcrumbs. Add the rest of the ingredients and whizz until combined.
Tip out onto a clean work surface and bring the dough together with your hands; it should come together easily, but if it doesn’t, return to the food processor, add a touch more coconut oil or banana, and whizz together.
Flatten out to about 1.5cm (2⁄3in) thick with the palm of your hands, and cut into 10 strips. Take each piece of mixture and form into a long biscuit (cookie) with rounded corners. Get older siblings to help shape the biscuits for their baby brother or sister. Your little chef will love modelling the biscuits, it’s a little like playing with modelling dough.
Place onto a non-stick baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 20–30 minutes, flipping halfway through. Allow to cool completely before serving to baby.
Store the biscuits in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
