For the first time, National Children’s Gardening Week is teaming up with Peppa Pig, Regatta Great Outdoors, and Save the Children to inspire children and families to get outside and have fun this summer.
National Children’s Gardening Week takes place 29th May – 6th June to promote the health, wellbeing and educational benefits of gardening. This year to add an extra special twist, the nation’s favourite little pig, Peppa, and her friends are sharing their top tips for having fun in the great outdoors, whilst at the same time raising money for Save the Children to help children around the world grow up healthy and happy.
Discover the magic of gardening
Sponsored by Regatta, a brand-new Peppa Pig themed activity pack has been created, which is jam-packed with fun and creative ways for children to explore the world around them and discover the magic of gardening.
As well as encouraging children to explore and enjoy nature, the Peppa Pig activity packs are also raising much-needed funds for Save the Children. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, millions of children have fallen behind with their learning and missed out on playing with others which is vital for their mental, social and emotional development. The money raised by National Children’s Gardening Week will help ensure that all children have the opportunity to learn, play and flourish, so they can grow up to be who they want to be.
The limited-edition activity packs will be available to collect from garden centres nationwide during National Children’s Gardening Week, with a suggested donation of £1 going to Save the Children. Find your nearest participating garden centre.
'We can’t wait to get outside with Peppa to have some muddy fun'
The campaign is fronted by keen gardener, regular Countryfile and Springwatch contributor and children’s television presenter JB Gill. Together with his family, the JLS singer is encouraging everyone to get down to their local garden centre to collect their Peppa Pig activity booklet, help raise vital funds and start having fun with nature!
JB Gill says: “I am so excited to be supporting this year’s National Children’s Gardening Week with my family. We love farming and gardening, so we can’t wait to get outside with Peppa to have some muddy fun. Playing outside and discovering wildlife is so important in helping children develop and grow. I am also really proud that this campaign is supporting Save the Children because all children around the world should have the chance to be healthy and happy, no matter where they’re from.”
Regatta and Peppa Pig have also teamed up to unveil a kid approved collection of fun, bright and weather-proof pieces for Spring Summer 2021. To encourage a new generation of explorers, the new range features prints showing Peppa and her favourite character friends loving the great outdoors - including George and Dinosaur. Designed with muddy puddles and garden play in mind, each piece is made to brighten even the dullest of rainy days!
