A guide to the best Easter holiday activities in the UK

Make the most of the Easter holidays with a fun day out for the kids. There are duck races, duck trails and duck eggs to find, the Easter Bunny to meet and lots of chocolate Easter egg hunts, going on all around the country. So get out there now and make the most of it.



1) Giant Easter Duck Trail, London Wetland Centre
Where: London Wetland CentreWhen: 6th-22nd April
Price: Trail £1 plus normal admission (adults £13.00; child over 4 £7.90)
Among the reeds and trees of the London Wetland Centre you'll find some giant, yellow rubber ducks hanging out with their real-life cousins this Easter. Use the specially created activity cards to find their location (and learn about the wetlands at the same time) and at the end you'll win a prize.

2) Cadbury's Egg Hunt, Waddesdon Manor
Where: Waddesdon Manor, BuckinghamshireWhen: 19th-22nd April
Price: £3 per child plus normal admission (adults £11; child £5)
This is an egg hunt with a difference. Instead of chickens' eggs, you'll be searching for 'dinosaur' eggs as you hunt around the grouns and discover more about the creatures that used to live at Waddesdon and the habitats they lived in. A must for dinosaur enthusiasts or those that like chocolate - once you've completed the trial, there's a Cadburys egg waiting for you.

3) The Manchester Duck Race
Where: River Irwell, ManchesterWhen: 19th April
Price: £1 per duck
Cheer on your rubber duck from the banks of the River Irwell at the 10th annual Manchester Duck Race in aid of children's charity, Brainwave. The first three ducks that float over the finish line will in a prize, but even if your duck is waddling way behind, there's plenty going on with celebrity guests (including Count Duckula), stilt-walkers, music, fairground rides, food stalls and much more.

4) Easter Street Theatre, The Causeway Coast
Where: The Causeway CoastWhen: 20th-22nd April
Price: Free event
The Causeway Coast is hosting a weekend of kids' street theatre over Easter with performances in Ballymoney, Ballycastle, Limavady, Portrush and Portstewart. As well as slapstick Punch & Judy shows, expect some impressive circus skills with fire jugging, stilt-walking, giant unicycles and fire-breathing on the schedule.

5) Easter Lindt Bunny Hunt, Kensington Palace
Where: Kensington PalaceWhen: 6th-22nd April
Price: Free with normal entrance fee
Follow in the footsteps of Queen Victoria as you scour her gardens at Kensington Palace in search of golden bunnies. With the help of a map and some historical clues, you'll learn about the famous kings and queens who lived at the palace and be pointed in the direction of a delicious Lindt Gold Bunny chocolate reward at the end.

6) Meet the Easter Bunny, The Tanfield Railway, Durham
Where: The Tainfield Railway, DurhamWhen: 7th and 14th April
Price: Free with Tanfield Railway tickets (adult £10.50; child £6.50)
The Easter Bunny will be catching a ride on a traditional Victorian steam train along the world's oldest railway - and he's not coming empty handed. He'll ve handing out eggs to the kids, hosting an Easter egg hunt and orgnaising arts and crafts so, as well as chocolatey faces, you can go home with your own Easter creation.

7) Easter Fun, Tredegar House

Tredegar House is getting into the Easter spirit this spring with an egg and spoon race, bunny hop race, whisker painting, rabbit-themed arts and crafts and, of course, an Easter egg hunt. The latter involves a bit of hard work; you need to hunt through Tredegar's gardens and identify which creature the weird and wonderful eggs belong to, before claiming your chocolate egg prize.

8) Easter Farmer Experience, Cwmcrwth Farm

What better way to spend Easter than feeding lambs and cuddling piglets? Join in the fun during the Easter Holidays and book a stay where children can follow in the footsteps of a farmer with the Junior Farmer experience. There's also an Easter egg hunt and lots of fun activities to join in with!

9) Spring Has Sprung Treasure Hunt, Loch Lomond

10) The Big Museum Easter Trial, St Fagans

This popular heritage attraction gives an insight into how the people of Wales used to live and work and what better way to learn about the history of Wales than with an Easter trail that ends with an egg-citing prize. Can you follow the trial and solve the clues?

11) Easter Adventure Quest, Birdowald Roman Fort, Hadrian’s Wall

This is not an Easter egg hunt, it is a quest. Intrepid adventures are needed at Birdowald Roman Fort to search for... dragon eggs. To help in this task, you'll be given a map of the Roman ruins and some clues to crack. And there's a certificate, sticker and chocolate treat for those brave knights who come home triumphant.

12) Down On The Farm, The Eden Project

The Eden Project is celebrating Easter with a farm-themed event. As well as The Great Eden Easter Egg Hunt, where you search for eggs hidden around the plants, there's a welly-wanging, The Wiggly Worm Trial, storytelling, crop-picking and an amazing giant windmill.

13) Giant Easter Egg Hunt, Noah's Ark Zoo Farm

With over 50 eggs hidden around this family-owned zoo, will you be able to find them? Follow the trail searching for them and the three golden bonus eggs! While you're hunting, there's over 100 species of animals to be looking at, including African elephants, lions and bears.
