Family-friendly holiday ideas: Fantasia Bahia Principe, Tenerife

Section: Family travel

Choosing a family holiday is a tough business.

You want somewhere that will endlessly entertain, stroppy two-year-olds, will have fun things for you to indulge in (that isn't Dinopaws-related, please!) and ideally not leaving you making a tearful call to Halifax after your card was declined whilst doing an Asda food shop.

With that in mind. we try out some of the best family holiday spots on offer, meaning you can know what you're really booking. It's a hard job, but somebody's got to do it, eh.

One that deserves a spot on your hitlist is Fantasia Bahia Principe in perpetually sunny Tenerife...

Overview

Fantasia Bahia Principe is a dazzling 5-star hotel complex that will have little ones (and probably you!) whooping in delight. The perfect blend of family-friendly and luxe, there are oodles to do for the entire family. Think water parks, play areas and a kids club for children and a spa, bars and an infinity pool for grown-ups.

Taking centre-stage of the resort is the poolside fairy tale castle, which not elevates the fantasy-theme, but also doubles up as a place to sleep. Yep, the  ‘Castle Suite’ is perfect for a one or two-night upgrade and of course, for little prince and princesses imagination to run wild!

The fantasy theme is based on the Garden of Hesperides, one of the island’s ancient legends with roots in Greek mythology and little ones are encouraged to follow the enchanting story throughout their stay.

How to get there

Rooms

The rooms feel incredibly luxe, immaculate and spacious -perfect for pushchairs and toddlers on tow! There are 372 rooms and suites spread across 11 acres, making it one of the largest resorts in the country.

The family master suites sleep up to five people and have all the expected amenities, plus two toilets and a bath.

Food and drink

Young diners are definitely catered for, with kids-only buffets in the kids' club, appealing decor, and an American-style poolside eatery. Hot, salty chips whilst watching the sunset, is a simple yet, divine experience that we really can't recommend enough!

There are five restaurants on-site including Japenese, Italian and a steak house, which is included in the all-inclusive deal throughout your stay. There is also the hotel's main buffet which truly caters to everyone's tastes and requirements. We queued up for approximately 39203 pancakes during our stay (worth it).

Family-friendly features

Waterparks: There is plenty of splashing fun to be had for little ones, whilst adults can make the most of Fantasia's infinity pool

Pushchair parking: At the entrance of each restaurant there are 'parking' spaces designed for your buggy - brilliant!

Wide corridors: Again, making this hotel extremely pushchair-friendly.

A nursing room: One of our favourite rooms! There is a tranquil hideaway designed for feeding your baby/pumping.

Puree options in restaurants: Your baby can eat too! Select one of the nutritious purees from the menu so everyone can join in with the feast!

‘Candy Man’: There is a circus-trained performer who hands out sweets and performs magic tricks as you enter the hotel. Kids will love it!

A spa for little ones: The property offers wellness experiences also for the little ones with its special kids’ spa treatments. Kids can enjoy there “my first massage”, a relaxing massage with sweet, biscuit-scented aromas as well as the Fantasia Mini-Manicure and Mini-Pedicure treatment.

Teens aren't left out: there is an exclusive teen club called The Loft which definitely feels like a place your older child will want to hang out/make use of the free wifi.
