Are Picnics Dying Out?

Section: Meals & Baking

Research suggests that the popularity of the picnic is decreasing

Research has confirmed that despite the sunny picnic weather arriving, generations of young people are resisting the urge to get outside for some family time. The family tradition could be dying out, with 71% of 18-24 year-olds staying indoors instead of having sandwiches in the sun with their families.

What to pack for a picnic - from baskets to backpacks and blankets

Although two thirds of families still enjoy a lunch in the park, youngsters are refusing to follow the trend. If this continues, generations to come may not picnic at all! Primula Cheese, who conducted the survey, are calling on Brits of all ages to dust off their blankets, polish their plastic cutlery and head to the great outdoors this summer to keep the tradition going.

To further inspire British families, Primula has developed a range of resources ideal for picnickers, including tasty recipes, fun family activities and the top picnic spots for some family fun. Picnics are perfect for playing games and having some quality bonding time, especially with your youngsters, and the summer holidays are the perfect opportunity for you to get outdoors and get picnicking!
