Great British Bake Off fever – the kit you need for baking with kids
We don’t know about you, but the return of the Great British Bake Off has inspired us to dig out the rolling pin and get baking.
And it’s a great activity to do with your toddler, too – you just need to stock up on some great small person-friendly equipment and before you know it, you’ll have thrown together a Victoria sponge that Mary Berry herself would be proud of (hopefully).
Check out our pick of the best baking essentials for little people…

Cooksmart Princess Cookie Cutters, Set of 8, £5, John Lewis
These Cinderella-theme cookie cutters will be a massive hit with your little prince or princess. And just think of all the fun she’ll have decorating them after.

Gingerbread man kitchen timer, £7.99, Amazon
Forget about a boring old egg timer, and equip your tot with this fun and child-friendly gingerbread man timer. It features a large easy-to-read display screen and a detachable clip so he can fasten it to his apron or to the recipe book.

Cupcake display stand, £3.60, Sainsbury's
Your little baker will need somewhere to display her cakes once they’ve come out of the oven. And have you ever seen a more incredible cake stand than this one? We think not.

Bear tins, £4, Sainsbury's
This two-pack of bear cake tins will make your toddler some grrrrreat (sorry, couldn’t resist!) cakes – perfect for teddy bear picnics. And they’re non-stick, too, making the sponge easier to remove once cooked.

Cupcake cases and toppers, £3, Wilko
Can’t face the thought of icing and decorating your tot’s cupcakes? This set of fairy cases and toppers will jazz them up with way less mess. Result.

Mixing spoon, £1, Wilko
Your little one can get involved in the creaming, folding and beating with this pig mixing spoon – great for injecting some fun into baking.

Rocket cupcake cases, 99p, Dunelm
Even if your tot’s cupcakes don’t go quite as planned, they’ll look 10 times better in these bright and colourful rocket cases. While your little one may not be able to manage the mixing and measurements, he can help crack the eggs and have a go stirring the mixture. Use an ice cream scoop to make sure you put the same amount of mixture in each case.

Junior baking set, £35, Le Creuset
For the more advanced mini baker and suitable for children aged three and upwards, this Le Creuset set will be a great addition to his baking cupboard. The small mixing bowl is just the right size for your tot’s small hands and comes with a mini spatula and spoon. Plus, there are six silicone cupcakes cases that can be used again and again.

Baking mat, £9, Ikea
Lessen your cleaning time with this wipe-clean mat. It’s great for rolling dough and pastry on and has a conversion table to convert weights and volumes to different measurement units.

Butterfly silicone cupcake cases, £3, Tesco
Your little one will love these butterfly cupcake cases and they have a double use – you can cook the cakes in them and serve them still in their cases, then simply wash them when they’ve all been gobbled up. Make decorating them easier by cleaning out an empty ketchup bottle and filling it with icing – easier for little hands to manage than a piping bag.

Baking set, £17.50, Tum Tum Tots
This baking set will encourage your small person to get in the kitchen with you and get baking. And even if your tot's a little young to be your sous chef, he can have great fun playing with water and flour in his mini mixing bowl.

Child’s chef hat, £15.50, Not On The High Street
Your tot will definitely feel the part in this chef’s hat – and you can personalise it to say his name. Available from ages two to four.

Tabletop wooden kitchen, £35, NCT
Ideal for when you don’t have time to supervise actual baking, this play kitchen will keep your budding baker busy. Perfect for role play, it boasts two saucepans, spatulas, salt and pepper shakers and more.Which Great British Bake Off recipe will you try out? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter!
