Turkey Burgers With Spicy Salsa

Blend the cooked burger with yoghurt until smooth.

Finger Food

These are the perfect size for your toddler to pick up.


  • 500 g (1 lb) lean minced turkey

  • finely grated rind of 1 lime

  • 3 spring onions, finely sliced

  • 1 tbsp sweet soy sauce or ketjap manis

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 100 g (31/2 oz) fresh breadcrumbs

  • 1 small egg, lightly beaten

  • 4 small wholemeal buns, split and toasted

  • 2 Romaine lettuce hearts, shredded

  • Salsa

  • 250 g (8 oz) cherry tomatoes, quartered

  • 1 red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped

  • 2 spring onions, finely sliced

  • 1 tbsp lime juice

  • 1 tbsp sweet soy sauce or ketjap manis

  • small bunch of fresh coriander, chopped

  • 1 ripe avocado, diced

These healthy burgers are served with a chilli-rich salsa to boost metabolism and protect against stress

1. Place the minced turkey in a large bowl with the lime rind, spring onions, soy sauce, cumin, breadcrumbs and egg. Mix until well combined then use wet hands to shape into 8 burgers.

2. Transfer the burgers to a grill pan and place under a preheated hot grill for 3–4 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through.

3.Meanwhile, place all the salsa ingredients in a bowl and stir until well combined. Set aside.

4. Arrange the toasted bun halves, cut-side up, on 4 serving plates and top with shredded lettuce. Place a burger on each and top with the salsa. Serve immediately.
