If you’re a fan of Mrs Hinch, you will have no doubt seen her making meals in her kitchen waffle maker for little Ronnie on her Instagram stories.

Preparing toddler meals never looked so easy thanks to the cleaning sensation and it’s definitely made us want to buy ourselves one and eat filled waffles for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Waffle maker recipe ideas

From breakfast and lunch to dinner, there are so many tasty recipes to make with your waffle maker that the whole family will love. Here are some of our favourites from Mrs Hinch and other mums, broken down into breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes.

Simple waffle maker recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 2 eggs divided

  • 1 ⅔ cup milk

  • ⅓ cup melted butter or oil

Method

  1. Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions.

  2. Place flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a bowl. Whisk to combine.

  3. In a small bowl, mix egg yolks, milk and butter. Set aside.

  4. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with a mixer on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. *see note

  5. Add egg yolk mixture to flour mixture and stir to combine. Fold in egg whites.

  6. Drop by large spoonfuls onto greased waffle iron, close the lid and cook about 3-5 minutes.

Breakfast recipes

Mrs Hinch's Omelette waffle maker recipes

Ingredients

  • Handful of spinach (chopped)

  • Handful of chopped ham

  • 4 tomatoes (chopped)

  • 3 eggs

  • Pinch of mixed Italian herbs

  • Handful of grated cheese

Method

  1. Whisk up your eggs in a jug and add a pinch of mixed herbs

  2. Once whisked, add the dry ingredients (ham, spinach, grated cheese and tomatoes) into the eggs and whisk again

  3. Pour the mixture into the waffle maker evenly and close the lid and cook

Mrs Hinch's Potato waffles

Ingredients

  • 2 potatoes (grated)

  • Handful of grated cheese

  • Pinch of black pepper

  • 2 eggs

Method

  1. Add the grated cheese to the grated potato in a large bowl and mix

  2. Whisk your eggs and add in the pepper before adding them to the bowl with the potato and cheese

  3. Mix together and pop it into the waffle maker, spreading the mixture around evenly and close the lid to cook

  4. Once it's ready, you can serve with ketchup or a dippy egg

Lunch recipes

Mrs Hinch's Spinach and cheese Quesadilla

Ingredients

  • Handful of spinach

  • 1tbs Philadelphia cream cheese

  • 2 tortillas

  • Pinch of mixed italian herbs

  • Handful of grated cheese

Method

  1. Microwave the spinach leaves until wilted

  2. Blend the spinach, Philadelphia, grated cheese and mixed herbs in the blender

  3. Spread onto one tortilla and sandwich the other on top

  4. Pop into the waffle maker until it's cooked to how you like it

Dinner recipes

Mrs Hinch's Pizza waffle maker recipes

Ingredients

  • Jus Rol pizza base

  • Tomato pizza topping sauce

  • 1-2 mushrooms sliced

  • A few spinach leaves

  • Handful of grated cheese

Method

  1. Cut or mould your Jus Rol pizza base to the perfect size for your waffle maker and close the lid to cook until golden brown

  2. Once cooked, spread on the tomato pizza sauce along with your sliced mushroom and spinach leaves and close the lid to cook again

  3. When your mushrooms and spinach has cooked, sprinkle your grated cheese on top

  4. Hold the lid of the waffle maker down (without touching the cheese) to melt the cheese for a few minutes until it's melted

Chicken, broccoli and cheddar potato waffles

Ingredients

  • 5 potatoes

  • Milk

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • Portion of chopped cooked chicken

  • Handful of grated cheese

  • 2 florets of chopped boiled broccoli

  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

  • 120g plain flour

  • 1 large egg

Method

  1. Boil the potatoes until tender for about 30 minutes. Drain and place them in a large bowl

  2. Mash them and then add milk and butter.  Mix until well incorporated

  3. Stir in the chicken, cheese, broccoli, pepper, flour and egg

  4. Spray with oil or butter spray and spread batter about evenly and cook until slightly brown

Dessert waffle maker recipes

[Waffles with hot chocolate sauce, fried bananas and cream

Ingredients

  • 260g/9½oz plain flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp sea salt flakes

  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 3 free-range eggs, lightly beaten

  • 425ml/15fl oz full-fat milk

  • 110g/4oz unsalted butter, melted

  • 175g/6¼oz plain chocolate, broken into pieces

  • 50g/1¾oz caster sugar

  • 4 bananas, peeled and halved lengthways

  • 50g/2oz butter

  • 50g/2oz caster sugar

  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream, to serve

Method

  1. For the waffles, preheat a waffle maker to a medium setting and preheat the oven to 140C/275F/Gas 1. Place a large wire rack onto a baking tray and keep it warm.

  2. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl. Whisk in the eggs, milk and butter until well combined.

  3. Ladle some of the batter into each well of the waffle maker, close the lid and cook for five minutes, or until golden-brown and crisp. Repeat the process until the batter is used up. Keep the waffles warm on the baking tray in the oven.

  4. For the hot chocolate sauce, melt the chocolate in a bowl set over a pan of simmering water (ensure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water).

  5. In another pan, heat the sugar and 100ml/3½oz water, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil.

  6. Stir the sugar syrup into the chocolate until smooth and shiny.

  7. For the fried bananas, heat a frying pan until hot, then melt together the butter and sugar.

  8. Add the bananas and fry for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until golden-brown all over.

  9. Place the waffles on a plate and top with chocolate sauce and serve the bananas and ice cream (or alternatively whipped cream) on the side.
