Enjoy a break in the country at this Hampshire hotel where family is the focus

Marketing Consultant Samantha Bell visited New Park Manor with her husband and Zac, two

With a busy job, a husband putting in 18-hour days, a toddler just starting nursery and baby number two due in eight weeks, some R&R was definitely needed – so we took off to New Park Manor in the New Forest for the weekend.

Part of the Luxury Family Hotel group, this recently refurbished 21 room hotel with both indoor and outdoor pools sits in stunning yet easily-accessible grounds.

Our room was luxurious but cosy, complete with an enormous bathroom and walk-in shower. And with rain forecast, the facilities were ideal, including a spa, cinema room, play area (toys, books, puzzles, Kerplunk…), crèche and lounge, although if the sun's shining, you can make the most of bike trails, forest walks and activities like horse riding.

The indoor heated pool and giant Jacuzzi were fabulous, although the challenge for us was the pool opening times – children could use it 8-10am and then 3-5pm, which clashed with breakfast and naptimes.

We pre-booked the crèche as well as Zac’s meals, which took a bit of spontaneity out of things, but it was fantastic to opt in for the Sunday morning breakfast club where the staff collected him at 8am for two hours so we could spend an extra hour in bed reading the papers and having breakfast. And Jo, who ran the crèche, was a big hit with our son – he didn’t stop talking about her all day!

From the waiters and reception staff to the resident whippet and management, the staff were super-friendly and are a huge asset to the hotel. They can arrange anything you need whether it’s a cot, sitter, taxi, takeaway, local excursion or spa treatment.

New Park manor is a great place to relax and connect, both as a family and as a couple, especially later in the evening when the dining room is transformed into a candlelit haven with a superb locally-sourced menu.

Easy to travel to, the staff are wonderful and there’s plenty to do, whatever the weather.

The childcare facilities are great and there’s lots to keep them occupied.

A room for two adults and a cot starts at £155 per night including breakfast. Children up to the age of 16 stay stay free of charge in their parents’ room. Complimentary childcare in the hotel’s OFSTED registered crèche, The Den, is also included, which is available in two-hour sessions. Visit
