Baby’s Here! How Celebrity Parents Make Birth Announcements

The Saturdays’ singer has a baby boy, Parker, with footballer Wayne Bridge, and announced the new addition to the girl band’s brood via Twitter. She wrote ‘Wayne and I are so proud to say our little boy Parker Bridge was born this morning. 7lb 13oz. All doing well and absolutely besotted’.


Katie Piper
The TV presenter and campaigner kept us updated throughout her pregnancy on Twitter, so it made sense for her to announce her daughter’s arrival that way. After having a Caesarean mid-March, Katie posted, ‘I am delighted to tell you that our daughter Belle Elizabeth was born today! Overwhelmed with happiness. We can’t wait to get to know her!’


Rachel Stevens
When former S-Clubber Rachel had her second daughter – Minnie Blossom – in early April, her husband Alex broke the news with the tweet, ‘Delighted to announce the safe arrival of our gorgeous little girl! @MsRachelStevens and baby both really well. Amelie happy and 'cited' x’. A statement appeared on the singer’s official website shortly after.


Tom McFly
One of our favourite couples Tom and Giovanna Fletcher tweeted about their son Buzz’s arrival within minutes of each other. The new mum wrote ‘THRILLED to announce the safe arrival of our little BOY! Born last night at 7pm. I can’t stop staring at and kissing him! I’m in love!Xxx’ while the McFly singer posted ‘Yep, @MrsGiFletcher gave birth to our insanely gorgeous son yesterday at 7pm. He is healthy, beautiful and I’ve already changed his nappy.’ They soon followed the tweets with perhaps the cutest video ever.


Kate and Wills
Sticking with royal tradition, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge revealed their son George had been born with a statement from Kensington Palace. The news was also carried on a piece of paper from the hospital and placed on an easel outside Buckingham Palace. It read ‘Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.’


Kim Kardashian
Despite her reality TV career, Kim steered clear of social media when North was born. But at the time, mum Kris Jenner confirmed the news and told E! that the baby was ‘beautiful’ and everyone was doing well.


Simon Cowell
The music mogul kept his tweets short but sweet when son Eric was born in February. He posted, ‘Very happy to say Eric was born at 17.45pm’ followed by ‘Healthy and handsome. Lauren in great shape. Thanks for all of your kind messages.’ and ‘Named after my dad’. He later showed off his super-cute baby in a series of photos.

Taking to his official site when daughter Amelia arrived, the Mysterious Girl singer wrote, 'Now that I have had the opportunity to tell Junior and Pringles, we are very happy to announce the safe arrival of our beautiful baby girl,’ referring to his two children with Katie Price, 'we are extremely thrilled and mum and bubba are doing fine’.

In an official statement, the Mr Selfridge actress’ husband Ryan said, 'Overwhelmed with joy to announce the arrival of our daughter, Orla Clark. Born on 11 March. Katherine has given me the best gift in the world. Absolutely smitten with Orla and so proud of my wife.'


Michael Buble

Musician power couple Gwen and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale welcomed their son in March. Gavin tweeted ‘welcome APOLLO BOWIE FLYNN ROSSDALE 2/28/14 (bowie and Flynn =mothers' maiden names )’ and Gwen quickly gave him a RT. Aw.


Emily Blunt
When Brit actress Emily gave birth to her little girl, actor husband John Kransinski tweeted, ‘Wanted to let the news out directly. Emily and I are so incredibly happy to welcome our daughter Hazel into the world today! Happy bday!’


Nadine Coyle
Girls Aloud singer Nadine also tweeted her daughter’s arrival with ‘I am overjoyed to let you know our little girl is here. She is amazing! I love being a mammy & will fill you all in soon. Love Nadine Xx’. Her bandmates were quick with their congrats – an excited Chezza posted, ‘It is OFFICIAL!! There is a baby Aloud!!!!!! Congratulations @nadinecoylenow & Jason so amazing!!!’


Zara Phillips
Prince William’s cousin Zara had her first baby, Mia, with rugby star Mike Tindall in January. The news was confirmed in a statement by Buckingham Palace, which read, ‘The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike's parents, Mr Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news. The baby's name will be confirmed in due course.’

Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha took everyone by surprise when she revealed she’d given birth with the tweet, ‘My baby girl Azura Sienna was born last week!!! I'm elated and over the moon :) x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x’. Turns out she’d hidden her pregnancy for months and was much further along than thought.

Generally pretty private about their family life, Bey and Jay-Z didn’t announce the arrival of their daughter Blue Ivy on social media – but their A-list mates did. Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted, ‘Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already.’ while Rihanna said, ‘Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih’.
