Celebrating 100 years of Winnie-the-Pooh's inspiration with cute baby buys

Winnie-the-Pooh inspiration

Adored for generations, the timeless tales of Winnie-the-Pooh are packed with heartfelt wisdom, warmth, and kindness that continue to enchant children and adults alike.

We’re taking a trip to the Hundred Acre Wood to celebrate the 100th birthday of A.A. Milne’s inspiration that led to our favourite honey-loving, red t-shirt wearing teddy bear and his collection of funny friends.

We've shared the wonderful story behind Winnie-the-Pooh's inspiration and included some super cute Winnie-the-Pooh presents you can buy for your little one (or Pooh fans!) to keep the wonderful classic alive in their hearts for years to come.

The inspiration behind Winnie-the-Pooh

Purchased from Harrods in London, the original ‘Edward Bear’ was given to Christopher Robin Milne for his first birthday by his mother Daphne on 21 August 1921.

Christopher Milne renamed his toy bear after Winnie, a Canadian black bear he saw at London Zoo, and Pooh, a swan they had encountered while on holiday.

A.A. Milne, Daphne’s husband and Christopher’s father, was so enamoured by the bond he witnessed between the boy and his bear, that he began to write stories of friendship about their journey through life together. And so, the stories of Winnie-the-Pooh were born!

Marking almost exactly 100 years since the inspiration began, we’ve listed our favourite Winnie-the-Pooh buys for your little one’s nursery where maybe you’ll be able to see that same bond. We all remember our first teddy after all!
