The MamaHug Arrival Survival New Mum Gift Hamper at a glance:

A hamper full of essentials, and treats, for a new mum – ideal for receiving once you get home from hospital with your new baby.

Product specification:

Each hamper contains a mix of post-partum self-care essentials, plus a few treat elements for the new mum:

  • Mum Bub Hub Postpartum Bath Soak
  • Natracare Maternity Pads (pack of 10)
  • First Days Peri Bottle (650ml)
  • Mum Bub Hub Disposable Maternity Pants (pack of 3)
  • Myrtle & Maude Labour Day Tea (suitable from 32 weeks pregnancy)
  • The Unrefined Bakery Almond Rocky Road and Almond Butter Flapjack (food items may vary depending on availability)
  • Natural Birthing Company Bottoms Up Spray

How did this product make your life easier?

As a new mum, as soon as that newborn arrives, all thoughts of preparation and essential products are completely forgotten. This hamper provides you with everything you need to take care of yourself in those first few days – from maternity pads and breast pads, to healthy and delicious flapjack and soothing herbal tea. Having all these things on hand took a weight off my mind that I had some important bits to hand, but also a couple of treats – that rocky road bar went down really, really well on that first daunting day of bringing baby back home. The post-partum soak was wonderful for that first bath at home. Plus, I don't need to tell any new mums who've had a vaginal birth, how useful the Peri Bottle is for those first few post-birth wees... (and much easier to use than a jug of water).

Would you recommend this to other parents?

Definitely – either as a gift for a friend who’s having a baby, or order one for yourself so you know you’re a bit prepared. It’s ideal for having everything in one place, plus, if you order it as a gift, it’s lovely to receive a hamper in the post. Often it can feel like everyone only thinks about the new baby, but receiving this as a present would make you feel taken care of. It contains some products you might not think of buying for yourself, such as the Peri Bottle, but once you've got one, you'll wonder how you did without it. Plus, I think it would be a good idea to gift this to a mum just before she has baby, so she can take it into hospital with her - or have it on hand at home - so all those vital items are right there with you, without having to send someone to the supermarket in a panic looking for breast pads.

Would you choose this product above all others on the market?

Yes, I would. I love this hamper as it has a mix of true essentials plus a few treats for mum too. Most hampers I’ve seen are one or the other – super practical, or pure treats. This has a mixture of the two.

What changes would you make to this product?

I might suggest one or two more ‘treat’ elements, but really I don’t think it needs any improvement. One thing I would consider is the price – it’s not the cheapest hamper on the market. Also, it could come in a sturdier, long-lasting box; you could have a thicker box that you could then keep to put keepsakes in perhaps.
