According to science, CHOCOLATE fights coughs better than some cough medicines

Chocolate

Chocoholics, we’ve got news that will make your day – according to scientists, chocolate fights cough better than some cough medicines!

As if we needed another excuse to dig in to chocolate at this time of year, Professor Alyn Morice published findings that chocolate can actually soothe coughs better than codeine syrup. Why we hear you ask? The chocolate apparently forms a sticky coating that protects the nerve endings that cause you to cough.

As the chocolate melts in your mouth, the natural cough-suppressing ingredients come into contact with the sore throat nerves and calm them down.

Unfortunately, for hot chocolate fans, the more you dilute the chocolate the less effective it is, and the best remedy is to suck on a piece of chocolate, letting it melt slowly.

So, there you have it, if you’ve got a sore throat, it’s time to take a visit to the sweet isle of your local supermarket!
