Marks and Spencer’s have launched wine with HALF the calories of a normal bottle

M&S wine

Err, what? Wine fans get ready, we’ve got some good news – Marks and Spencer’s have launched new wine that contains HALF the calories of a normal bottle. Whilst the alcohol in the bottles is still a respectful 8.5%, the red, white and rose wine only contains half the calories of a normal bottle.

All the wines are made by Journey’s End winery in South Africa. The white is a Sauvignon Blanc, described as ‘light, elegant and refreshing with flavours of elderflower, passionfruit and peach.’

White wine

The red is a Shiraz, described as ‘rounded and smooth with a hint of oak, this wine has mocha, blackberry and spice notes.’

Red wine

Finally, the rose is described as ‘light, elegant and refreshing with flavours of wild strawberries and raspberries.’

Rose wine

The wines come in a case of six for £45, so there really is no excuse to indulge this Christmas (once the tots are in bed, obviously!)

Wine critics have also praised these low calories bottles, with Jilly Goolden saying: ‘This is a breakthrough. So far low-alcohol and low-calories have been a great disappointment. Some are disgusting. But this is a great step forward.’
