Secretly wanted to win the egg and spoon race but haven’t admitted it to anyone? Maybe it’s time to share the guilt as sales figures from Amazon suggest a fair few of us are getting geared up for the big race.
Amazon.co.uk representatives have revealed that sales of a number of it’s traditional sports day products have soared – possibly influenced by David and Victoria Beckham’s involvement in their eldest son, Brooklyn’s, own sports day last year.

Sales of Amazon’s adult racing sacks are up by a whopping 263 per cent month on month, stopwatches are up 221 per cent and ring toss set sales have increased by 142 per cent.
‘As the popularity of the ‘Parent’s Race’ continues, it appears that parents are now going the extra mile to impress on Sports Day,’ says Xavier Garambois, vice president of EU Retail at Amazon. ‘Don’t be surprised to see parents practicing the sack race in their back garden or training with an egg and spoon in the local park.’
But it’s not just sports day related products doing well – rounders sets are more popular than anything else, with Amazon representatives revealing that sales are up 1,100 per cent month on month.
Whether families are stocking up on sports equipment in an effort to beat other parents or not, it’s still a great way for the whole family to spend time together this summer – while staying active.
