Warning: most of these crazy convincing photos will make you gasp, but rest assured, they are all photoshopped! A must-have skill for any father looking to pull the ultimate (yet risky) prank, these images have all been created by Dublin based designer, Stephen Crowley. Photo shopping his 18-month-old daughter Hannah into realistic looking situations that would make any parents heart stop, these photos are actually created to raise awareness of a much more important condition.
Hannah was diagnosed with a rare immune disorder called HLH, or hemophagocyric lymphohisticoytosis, a life-threatening immunodeficiency where the body makes too many immune cells. After spending six months in hospital having chemotherapy, Hannah received a bone marrow transplant from an anonymous donor. Out of 27 million worldwide donors on the database, only three were suitable for little Hannah, so these photos, as scary as they may look, are to raise awareness and get more people to join the bone marrow registry, Be the Match.
Thankfully, little Hannah is now on the mend, and her Dad told Mashable, ‘She’s lots of fun, always smiling and has a great sense of humour given what she’s been through so far. Because we missed out on so much normal stuff [during] the first year, we take tons of photos now that we’re able to do normal things out of isolation.’
So whilst we all take a deep breath and try and remember these AREN’T REAL, we hope by sharing them, Be the Match will continue to connect donors with those in need.
